Cut unpeeled bananas in half, creating 2 "tops" and 2 "bottoms".
Insert a craft stick into the cut end of each banana piece, being careful not to poke through the top.
Peel bananas.
Place flat on a plate or dish. Freeze for 4 hours or until firm.
Make Homemade Magic Shell: In a small microwave-safe bowl, heat chocolate chips in microwave in 30 second intervals until they begin to melt. Microwave in 10 second intervals until completely melted. Stir in oil until completely smooth.
When bananas are completely frozen, place Homemade Magic Shell in a baggie or piping bag. Drizzle over frozen bananas until covered to your liking.
Return to freezer for an additional minute to allow chocolate coating to harden. If desired, flip bananas and drizzle other side.
Once chocolate is hardened, store bananas tightly covered in the freezer until ready to eat!
Notes
For authentic "Magic Shell" flavor, use milk chocolate chips. In a pinch, semi-sweet or dark can be substituted, but the flavor will be different.
Vegetable oil can be replaced with any other neutral-flavored oil. If a solid fat (like crisco or coconut oil) is used, you'll have to reheat the Magic Shell each time you want to use it.
Store leftover Homemade Magic Shell in a glass jar at room temperature up to a month.
If your magic shell becomes too solidified to pour, simply heat in a microwave for a few seconds until warm.
